Savannah cellist, Annelise Nelson, born in 1983, was raised in Logan, Utah. Surrounded by music of all styles from day one, she began playing the cello at age ten. Ms. Nelson holds a bachelors degree from Purchase College, where she was awarded a full tuition scholarship, and recently completed a master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Her primary teachers include Peter Wiley, Julia Lichten, Margo Drakos, and David Soyer. She has attended music festivals including the Music Academy of the West, Musicorda, and Killington Chamber Music Festival. She was also privileged to participate in the Kurt Masur Conducting Seminar Orchestra at the Manhattan School. Since graduating, Annelise has been dedicated to teaching cello students of all ages and pursuing a career performing progressive and untraditional styles of music in hopes of reaching a more diverse audience.
