Danielle Hicks and the Resistance

Danielle Hicks came up in the pine woods outside the tiny town of Tifton, Georgia, in a house with few resources but lots of music. Her musician parents took care to school her in the blues legends and the canon of classic Southern rock, with a bit o’ country thrown in for good measure. The plucky little redhead won her first contest at 7 with Crystal Gayle’s “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue” and further honed her singing chops in her daddy’s rock band.

In addition to covering the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Etta James, Fleetwood Mac and California-based sensation Rebelution, the duo performs a host of original soul-infused tunes and has a full-length album due out in 2014. In the meantime, Danielle Hicks and the Resistance continue to defy gravity with good vibrations and roof-raising performances.
